The HSM Group, Ltd. (HSM) is a full-service research and consulting firm working exclusively in health care for more than 20 years. Actionable quantitative and qualitative research is at the heart of our approach to helping pharmaceutical companies, medical device firms, health plans, integrated delivery systems, and health care associations achieve strategic, customer loyalty, and bottom-line goals.
Qualitative Research. HSM has conducted over 2,500 focus group sessions with physicians and other healthcare professionals, patients, hospital leaders, and managed care executives. We also regularly conduct one-on-one interviews both in person and on the telephone. Our moderators are senior staff members and all have years of research experience as well as health care backgrounds. Our discussion guides are carefully constructed with multiple probes to elicit the unbiased specific insights our clients need. Additionally, we have a track record of recruiting hard-to-reach professional targets. Core competencies include assessing the impact of market events, testing new concepts and messages, and uncovering the underlying considerations in formulary decision-making.
Quantitative Research. HSM uses a variety of fielding modes including telephone, Internet, mail, and IVR to accumulate data sufficient for reliable projection to an entire market segment. We take pride in designing surveys that will meet project goals by keeping objectives firmly in mind and routinely asking ourselves “Is this survey covering the right questions? Will the survey data lend itself to meaningful statistical analysis? Will the questions and response choices minimize bias and respondent fatigue?” We also provide expert statistical analysis and consultative reporting. Core competencies include assessing customer loyalty and satisfaction, and tracking product awareness, trial, and usage over time.
Online Survey Programming and Fielding. HSM has programmed and hosted secure, password-protected Internet surveys since 2003. We use industry-leading survey software tools to do all programming and hosting in-house by a team of seasoned programmers, allowing substantial flexibility in survey design and implementation.
Reporting. In creating reports for our clients, the goal is to answer the important research questions, explain how the data supports those findings, and provide conclusions and actionable recommendations. Our health care experience allows us to overlay broad perspective which informs recommendations that may not be obvious at first glance.
Economic Modeling. HSM uses principles and techniques from the disciplines of economics, research, and statistics to develop interactive models that illustrate the economic return of investing in a new technology or drug. Individual organizations such as employers or health plans use these models to predict and proactively manage disease impact within their population.
Working with our clients in the U.S. and abroad. When undertaking a new project, we assign a team leader and project manager to serve as liaisons and ensure that research objectives are clearly defined and the timeline and budgets are met. Our goal is to provide clients with the most bang for their research dollars. Through our collaboration with EFG, we offer access to targets in Europe, Asia, and South America and leverage state of-the-art focus group facilities, experienced healthcare-specific, bilingual native-speaker interviewers, and simultaneous translation.
